Stefanie Dazio is a crime and criminal justice reporter at Newsday (Long Island, N.Y.). She previously covered the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County for the paper.
She worked as a breaking news reporter at The Record (Bergen County, N.J.) and Herald News (Passaic County, N.J.). She also covered health, fitness and food for these newspapers as a features reporter.
She is a 2013 graduate of American University in Washington, D.C., where she was a double major in Journalism and the interdisciplinary CLEG (Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics and Government). She graduated in May 2013 with magna cum laude honors.
As an award-winning student reporter, Stefanie has had a wide variety of journalism experiences — including internships with The Washington Post, The Star-Ledger and The Durango Herald.
She is comfortable working across multiple platforms, and is well-versed in Web producing, video editing, page design, photography and social media.
When she’s not chasing down tips or churning out ledes, Stefanie is likely defending her native New Jersey, watching an N.Y. Giants game, trying out a new recipe or curling up with a good book.
